#1 Clinical Trend: Ebola Virus

Ebola virus is one of at least 30 known viruses capable of causing viral hemorrhagic fever syndrome. Although geographically diverse, all identified agents are RNA viruses with a lipid envelope, all are considered zoonoses, and all damage the microvasculature, resulting in increased vascular permeability. The current West Africa Ebola outbreak is the largest reported to date, with more than 1,300 identified cases.
