Physical Examination and Workup

Physical examination reveals the following:

  • Blood pressure: 124/58 mm Hg

  • Temperature: 98.3°F (36.8°C)

  • Heart rate: 85 beats/min

Examination of her neck reveals enlarged supraclavicular lymph nodes. Examination of her breasts reveals no distinct nodules, lumps, discharge, skin retraction, or axillary adenopathy. Her abdomen is soft, benign, and nontender. Neurologically, cranial nerves II through XII are grossly intact.

Upon evaluation of the lungs, wheezing and atelectasis are observed. Increased work of breathing is also noted. A chest radiograph is subsequently ordered.
