#6 Clinical Trend: Proton Pump Inhibitors
No doubt the recent findings of a Stanford medical study are the cause for this term to trend. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), some of the world’s most prescribed medications, are used to treat heartburn; however, they may also be responsible for an increase in heart attacks. This development represents a significant concern for physicians trying to help one common ailment without medication that may contribute to something even more serious.
