According to the Endocrine Society's latest guideline, which was sponsored by the European Society of Endocrinology and The Obesity Society, "Weight loss is a pathway to health improvement for patients with obesity-associated risk factors and comorbidities." In other words, managing the weight first rather than the comorbidities associated with obesity, such as hyperglycemia, hypertension, and dyslipidemia, will help decrease the incidence of these complications by proxy.
