An ovarian cyst is a sac filled with liquid or semiliquid material that arises in an ovary. The vast majority of these lesions are benign. However, a ruptured ovarian cyst is a common phenomenon, with presentation ranging from no symptoms to symptoms mimicking an acute abdomen.
