Annual evaluation of renal function to screen for albuminuria is recommended for all SCD patients beginning at 10 years of age to assess for and monitor renal manifestations. SCD patients with persistent albuminuria are treated as per ASH guidelines. Complete blood count with differential and reticulocyte count, hepatobiliary function, and ensuring that patients are properly vaccinated are all a part of routine health monitoring in SCD patients.
For additional information, refer to a summary of guideline recommendations for SCD.
