
Acupuncture, massage, and cold therapy (with and without compression), while generally considered safe, lacked enough supporting evidence to recommend or discourage use as part of a multimodal approach. Specifically, trials of cold therapy in both adults and children were inconsistent, with no differences frequently reported when comparing pain with patients who did not receive cold therapy for postoperative pain.
