Infants most often drown in bathtubs or buckets of water. Most of these victims drown during a brief (<5 minutes) lapse in adult supervision. Bathtub and bucket drownings may represent child abuse; carefully examine the child for other evidence of injury, review the child's history for previous events, and review the details of the incident very carefully with the child's parent or guardian.
