Although anaphylaxis can occur without skin symptoms, cutaneous reactions are the most common clinical manifestations of an allergic reaction to a food. Symptoms range from acute urticaria (most common) to flushing to angioedema to exacerbations of atopic dermatitis. Food allergy is rarely the cause of chronic urticaria or angioedema.
