
The CDC and the American College of Physicians (ACP) state that testing and the initiation of antibiotic therapy are not recommended in patients with bronchitis unless pneumonia is suspected. Treatment of symptoms includes cough suppressants, decongestants, beta-agonists, and first-generation antihistamines.
