According to guidelines from the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the following are indications for complete colon evaluation in patients with symptomatic hemorrhoids and rectal bleeding:
Age 50 years or older, if no complete evaluation within 10 years
Age 40 years or older or 10 years younger than the age at which a single, first-degree relative younger than 60 years was diagnosed with colorectal cancer or advanced adenoma
Age 40 years or older or 10 years younger than the age at which two first-degree relatives with advanced adenomas or colorectal cancer were diagnosed
Positive FIT results
Positive FIT-fecal DNA test results
