Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) is a rare but serious sensorimotor disorder that is presumed to result from a probable immunologic antibody-mediated reaction, along with interstitial and perivascular infiltration of the endoneurium by inflammatory T cells and macrophages. Effective and timely treatment and close follow-up are essential to prevent significant disability. Although rare, quadriplegia, respiratory failure, and death have been described.
