Most experts agree that symptoms must be present for > 8 weeks to make the diagnosis of CIDP. As previously noted, CIDP symptoms usually progress gradually but may also present in a relapsing manner that comprises partial or complete recovery between recurrences; periods of worsening and improvement usually last weeks or months.
