Breast cancer brain metastasis is associated with poor prognosis and impairs both the cognitive and sensory functions of patients, resulting in significant impairments to quality of life. Headache is the most common symptom, occurring in 25%-57% of patients. Other presenting symptoms in patients with brain metastasis include focal neurologic deficits (20%-75%), altered mental status (5%-60%), gait abnormalities/ataxia (15%-20%), speech changes (5%-20%), visual changes (5%-8%), nausea/vomiting (5%), and somnolence (5%).
