Suicide ranks as the 10th leading cause of death in the United States and is one of just three leading causes of death that has increased during the last decade. It is the second leading cause of death for children, adolescents, and young adults (aged 15-24 years). Nearly 800,000 people die by suicide worldwide each year. In every population, suicide is almost invariably the result of untreated or inadequately treated depression or other mental illness that may or may not include substance or alcohol abuse, coupled with knowledge of and access to lethal means.

Review key aspects related to suicide, including risk factors and evidence-based interventions designed at prevention, with this short quiz.
