Ketamine has captured headlines with its potential role in treating certain mental health conditions. This includes approval of esketamine, the S-enantiomer of racemic ketamine, by the US Food and Drug Administration for use in patients with treatment-resistant depression. Evidence also supports the use of intravenous (IV) ketamine for acute pain, including as monotherapy and as an adjunct to opioids. Much remains unclear about ketamine use, however, including potential long-term side effects. With more patients inquiring about the drug, are you familiar with key aspects, including new guidelines and potential interactions? Test your knowledge with this short quiz.
