Allergic asthma is an increasingly prevalent chronic respiratory disease that imposes a significant burden on individuals, resulting in substantial healthcare costs, impairments to quality of life, and increased morbidity and mortality. The World Health Organization estimates that more than 339 million individuals have asthma. Numerous therapies are available for the management of allergic asthma, but international studies show asthma control to be poor or suboptimal in 57%-80% of patients. Improving control of asthma symptoms is essential to optimize outcomes and improve quality of life among individuals with asthma.
