Research on the genetics of non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has led to targeted therapies and immunotherapies that have been shown to reduce progression to metastatic disease. Several mutations and genomic aberrations are predictive of a patient's therapeutic responses to particular agents and should therefore be considered during treatment planning.
