Despite improvements in detection and treatment, prostate cancer remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and its incidence is increasing. Recent estimates suggest that approximately 1.3 million cases of prostate cancer were diagnosed in 2018, with the highest rates reported in developed countries. Although prostate cancer is often asymptomatic in its early stages, symptoms may arise as the disease progresses.
