The Gleason grading system is currently the most common classification used that helps to determine the histologic characteristics of prostate cancer. Patients with a Gleason score of 6 or higher have prostate cancer that is likely to progress to advanced cancer if it hasn't already. A PSA level of ≥ 10 ng/mL also points to the likelihood of disease progression.
