Aspirin, or acetylsalicylic acid, is a commonly used antipyretic and anti-inflammatory agent. It is frequently indicated to treat mild to moderate pain, fever, headaches, and acute minor injuries, as well as certain chronic conditions. Low-dose aspirin also plays a role in some prevention strategies for heart conditions, stroke, and colorectal cancer. A recent study even found that older adults (> 65 years) who regularly took aspirin had a significant reduction in mortality from all causes and from cancer, compared with individuals who didn't take aspirin.
