Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic inflammatory arthritis that occurs in people with psoriasis. Up to 30% of patients with psoriasis have psoriatic arthritis. Psoriatic arthritis can affect any joint in the body, although it has a predilection for the large joints, particularly those of the lower extremities, and the distal joints of the fingers and toes. Left untreated, it can lead to permanent joint damage.
