Polyarticular psoriatic arthritis is differentiated from rheumatoid arthritis by the presence of distal interphalangeal joint involvement, relative asymmetry, an absence of subcutaneous nodules, and, usually, a negative test result for rheumatoid factor.
Peripheral joint involvement is a common and potentially devastating feature of psoriatic arthritis. It is often symmetrical and polyarticular, but it can also be oligoarticular, asymmetrical, or on occasion, monoarticular.
