Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer worldwide. A significant increase in the incidence of colorectal cancer in individuals younger than 50 years has been recently reported in the United States, various countries in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Invasive colorectal cancer is a preventable disease. Early detection through screening programs is key. Systemic therapy for colorectal cancer has also dramatically improved outcome for patients with metastatic disease.
