Uhthoff phenomenon is the worsening of neurologic symptoms (ie, weakness, numbness, fatigue, pain, mental fogginess, and blurred vision) due to elevated body temperature in patients with MS. High ambient heat and humidity elevate core temperature and should be avoided if possible.
Uhthoff phenomenon is not the initial presentation of ON, and it does not include dyschromatopsia or pain with eye movement in patients with ON.
