A patient with MS complaining of blurred vision, floaters, photophobia, pain, and eye redness has symptoms of intermediate uveitis (pars planitis) or inflammation of the uvea. Patients who have MS are 10 times more likely to suffer with uveitis than the general population.
Although ON is common in patients with MS, symptoms are blurred vision, gaze-evoked pain, and flashes of light.
Keratoconjunctivitis sicca is dry eye syndrome, and the symptoms are not consistent with those of uveitis.
Open-angle glaucoma appears as a gradual, painless vision loss. Patients with MS are not at higher risk for this diagnosis.
