Anemia is a frequent comorbidity among patients with heart failure, found in one third of all patients with heart failure. Its presence is associated with increased symptoms and increased rates of hospitalization and mortality. Patients with heart failure and anemia may experience more dyspnea and fatigue, leading to added impairments in exercise tolerance and quality of life. It is essential that anemia be recognized and treated in patients with heart failure.
