Anemia is a frequent comorbidity among patients with heart failure. Its incidence ranges from 30% to 50% and is likely to be higher in certain populations. The presence of anemia is associated with increased symptoms and increased rates of hospitalization and mortality. Patients with heart failure and anemia may experience more dyspnea and fatigue, leading to added impairments in exercise tolerance and quality of life. It is essential that anemia be recognized and treated in patients with heart failure.
