Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a serious, potentially life-threatening viral infection caused by a virus from the Coronaviridae family: SARS-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV). SARS is different from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which is caused by SARS-CoV-2, a novel coronavirus first reported in late 2019.

Global efforts have virtually eradicated SARS as a threat. However, ongoing efforts are being made to better understand the disease, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Are you familiar with key aspects of SARS? Take this short quiz to refresh and test your knowledge.
