Consider treating women with osteopenia (T score between -1 and -2.5 SDs) only if their bone turnover is above normal limits for premenopausal women. Women with normal bone density (T score > -1 SD) should not be treated, but women with osteoporosis (T score < -2.5 SD) should, regardless of bone turnover measures.
