For patients in whom HDL-C levels are very high, a low-fat diet may be recommended to reduce HDL-C. However, most patients with HALP are healthy and asymptomatic and do not require any treatment, surgical care, or restriction of activities. Patients who have manifestations of cardiovascular disease should be treated accordingly, and those with corneal opacities should receive an ophthalmologic evaluation.
