Atrial flutter is a cardiac arrhythmia that is associated with various cardiac disorders, typically coronary artery disease or hypertensive heart disease. Symptoms typically reflect decreased cardiac output as a result of the rapid ventricular rate, the most common of which is palpitations. Atrial flutter is similar to atrial fibrillation in many respects, although atrial fibrillation is far more common. The risk of embolic occurrences associated with atrial flutter approaches that seen in atrial fibrillation.

Are you familiar with key clinical aspects of atrial flutter, as well as best practices for workup and management? Make sure you're prepared to identify and treat this potentially serious condition by taking this short quiz.
