According to CDC, Tdap vaccine is recommended for patients 7-10 years of age who are not fully vaccinated against pertussis. Fully vaccinated is defined as five doses of DTaP or four doses of DTaP if the fourth dose was administered on or after the fourth birthday. If additional doses of tetanus and diphtheria toxoid–containing vaccines are needed, then patients aged 7-10 years should be vaccinated according to the catch-up schedule, with Tdap preferred as the first dose.
