BPDCN offers a broad differential diagnosis in the skin. For this reason, it is important to order a variety of stains to confirm diagnosis. In addition to the CD123, CD4, CD56 triad of markers, TCL-1 is the other definitive marker for BPDCN. CD34 positivity indicates angiosarcoma and other sarcomas, while MPO positivity suggests AML. EBER positivity is associated with KN/t-cell lymphomas.
