Background

A 32-year-old woman presents with a 3-year history of diffuse hair loss on her scalp, as well as increased hair growth on her arms and face.

Her past medical history is notable for hypertension treated with lisinopril, 10 mg daily. She says that she does not use alcohol, tobacco, or illicit drugs. The patient has no children and reports a 5-year history of amenorrhea and deepening of her voice. She has no family history of similar hair loss or hormonal diseases. She says she has not had recent weight changes or lymphadenopathy.
