Most patients with hyperphosphatemia are asymptomatic. However, some may experience hypocalcemic symptoms, including muscle cramps, tetany, and perioral numbness or tingling. Other possible symptoms include bone and joint pain, pruritus, and rash. More often, patients report symptoms related to the underlying cause of the hyperphosphatemia.
