Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare autoimmune disease of the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) which manifests as skeletal muscle weakness. It is caused by autoantibodies targeting acetylcholine receptors (AChRs) or structural proteins of the NMJ. This results in a characteristic pattern of fatigable muscle weakness.
