Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer for women worldwide and is the fifth leading cause of cancer mortality globally. In high-income countries, breast cancer is most frequently diagnosed in postmenopausal patients. However, approximately 5% of cases are diagnosed in women under 40 years of age. Mortality has been decreasing in most Western countries due to earlier detection and improved treatment.
