According to the Hunter criteria, the patient must have taken a serotoninergic agent within the preceding 5 weeks and must also have one of the following:
Muscle rigidity and temperature > 100.4°F (38°C) with ocular clonus or inducible clonus
Ocular clonus with agitation and diaphoresis
Inducible clonus with agitation and diaphoresis
Spontaneous clonus
Tremor and hyperreflexia
Hypertonia
