According to the Hunter criteria, the patient must have taken a serotoninergic agent within the preceding 5 weeks and must also have one of the following:

  • Muscle rigidity and temperature > 100.4°F (38°C) with ocular clonus or inducible clonus

  • Ocular clonus with agitation and diaphoresis

  • Inducible clonus with agitation and diaphoresis

  • Spontaneous clonus

  • Tremor and hyperreflexia

  • Hypertonia
