Nail psoriasis has been closed linked to enthesitis, an inflammatory change that occurs early in the disease course of PsA, and it is also an independent predictor of PsA. Patients with PsA who have nail psoriasis have been shown to have worse disease activity, quality of life, and work productivity than those without nail involvement, highlighting the importance of diagnosis and management of nail disease in patients with PsA. Men and women are equally affected by nail psoriasis. Nail psoriasis is not associated with increased mortality.
