According to guidelines from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, assessment of B symptoms (ie, drenching night sweats, unexplained fever, or weight loss) is an essential component in the workup for CLL. A comprehensive metabolic panel is also crucial. Bone marrow biopsy is generally not required for the diagnosis of CLL.
