Hot flashes may have an inverse relationship with breast cancer recurrence in patients who are receiving selective ER modulator risk-reducing therapy. Night sweats, insomnia, and mood disturbances (like hot flashes) are also symptoms of menopause, but have not been linked to any changes in the risk for breast cancer recurrence.
