Such complications continue to pose a burden on the individuals living with diabetes, and cardiovascular complications remain the most common cause of mortality in patients with type 2 diabetes. Screening people with type 2 diabetes for cardiovascular risk is an important strategy for reducing mortality and cardiovascular disease events.
