Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of lower respiratory tract infections in infants and young children. According to results of the INFORM-RSV study, RSV was associated with 33.1 million episodes of lower respiratory tract infections, 3.2 million RSV-related hospital admissions, and 118,000 deaths in children younger than 5 years.
