According to the ACR's proposed criteria for fibromyalgia, diagnosis requires (1) a widespread pain index (WPI) score of ≥ 7 and symptom severity score (SSS) of ≥ 5, or a WPI score of 4-6 and SSS of ≥ 9; (2) generalized pain in four of five regions; and (3) the presence of symptoms for 3 months or more.
