The Skill Checkup series provides a quick, case-style interactive quiz, highlighting key guideline- and evidence-based information to inform clinical practice.

A 63-year-old patient presents with increasing abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and ascites. She was previously diagnosed with advanced-stage uterine serous carcinoma subtype. Family history was significant for maternal colon cancer as well as breast cancer in a maternal aunt. Immunochemistry testing revealed that the tumor was positive for DNA deficient mismatch repair (dMMR), and the patient underwent genetic testing and counseling at this time, though no underlying Lynch syndrome mutation was detected. Given the tumor's high-risk histology, the patient then underwent a total laparoscopic hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and sentinel lymph node mapping and completed a platinum/taxane-based regimen with radiation 3 months ago.
