Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality, and prognosis is associated with the stage at diagnosis. More than 50% of patients with lung cancer are diagnosed with distant metastatic disease, and 25% of patients are diagnosed with regional metastasis. About 85% of all lung cancers are non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
