Adenocarcinoma is the most common histologic subtype of NSCLC, with an incidence of 40%. The incidence of squamous cell carcinoma ranges between 25% and 30%. The incidence of large cell carcinoma is between 10% and 15%. Bronchoalveolar carcinoma is a distinct subtype of adenocarcinoma, and its incidence comprises about 4% of lung cancer cases, according to Tan and colleagues.
