To simplify practice, the ACIP now recommends either PCV15 followed by a dose of PPSV23, typically ≥ 1 year later, or PCV20; these vaccines can be used in PCV-naive adults aged ≥ 65 years or those aged 19-64 years with certain underlying conditions. Under the previous guidelines, recommendations for use of the PCV13 and PPSV23 varied by age and risk group.
