Primarily used to treat cardiovascular diseases, beta-blockers are commonly prescribed drugs that have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of various conditions. Indications include arrhythmias, heart failure, coronary artery disease, tremor, glaucoma, hypertension, myocardial infarction, pheochromocytoma, and the prevention of migraines. Beta-blockers are also used to treat less common conditions, such as hypertrophic obstructive, thyrotoxicosis, cardiomyopathy, and long QT syndrome.
